Government
The Village of Enon is a non-charter village that operates under a statutory form of government as provided by Title Seven of the Ohio Revised Code. This classification is a combination of a mayor and council form of government.
The Mayor of Enon is elected by the voters of the Village at the general election in the odd numbered years. The mayor serves a four-year term of office and presides at council meetings but has no vote except in the case of a tie.
The Enon Council consists of six members elected at large for four-year overlapping terms. The village council is vested in both legislative and administrative powers such as providing employment of the employees for the village and approving appointments made by the mayor.
The Fiscal Officer is appointed by the Mayor with approval of Council.
The village has created the position of Village Administrator by ordinance. The Administrator of Enon is appointed by the mayor with the approval of the village council and serves at their pleasure. The village administrator is responsible for the management and supervision of the water works , street, park and zoning departments. The administrator makes regulations necessary for the safe, economical and efficient operations of the various departments. The administrator is under the general supervision and control of the mayor of the village.
The Village of Enon Police Chief is appointment by the mayor with the approval of the village council. The police chief has exclusive authority over the stationing and transfer of all officers and employees in the police department, with the approval of the mayor.
The executive power of the Village of Enon is vested in the mayor, fiscal officer, council, administrator and police chief. Enon council meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Enon Government Center located at 363 East Main Street Enon, Ohio.
